Third generation class E
In january1968, Mercedes Benz officially launched the third generation E-class models (including w115 models) with chassis number w114. The third generation E-class car, which gave up the “fishtail” design, used a large number of simple and lively straight-line design elements and upright headlights. In terms of space, new cars continue to increase, highlighting the theme of E-class luxury cars.
This generation of E-class cars is very rich in models, and the output power is also diverse. Mercedes Benz, a model with 80 ~ 150 horsepower, has been produced. In 1975, the E-Class car first adopted a 3.0L in-line five cylinder diesel engine with model number of 300D. Although the displacement is large, it can only output 77 horsepower. Even so, this engine was the most powerful passenger car diesel engine in the world at that time. By 1976, the production of this generation of E-class had totaled 1.83 million, accounting for 77% of the total output of Mercedes Benz cars of the same era.
